TAG Heuer was honored to welcome in La Chaux-de-Fonds José María “Pechito” López, the argentine pilot reigning world touring car champion.
Pechito Lopez visited the manufacture where he met the artisan’s watchmakers, engineers and team who showed him the avant-garde production method. He then travelled back through time exploring the TAG Heuer 360 Museum and its 300-piece collection connecting the company’s 150-year history.
He was greeted by Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer and President of the Watch Division of LVMH Group, who congratulated him for his first fully electric series podium as he just won the second place at the FIA Formula E Paris ePrix. They exchanged on their shared passion for innovation in motorsport and TAG Heuer long-standing partnerships with legendary drivers.
After the success he achieved in the WTCC and his outstanding performance in Formula E, the argentine pilot is taking part of the 2017 World Endurance Championship competing for the first time in the 24 hours of Le Mans. “We’re extremely happy that Pechito decided to visit us as he is just about to fulfill one of his most anticipated dream participating at the most mythic endurance race in motorsport” said Jean-Claude Biver.
Triple WTCC champion, José María “Pechito” López was born on 26 April 1983 in the state of Córdoba (Argentina). Since his racing debut in 2001, he entered 414 Races, won 72 and conquered the podiums 151 times with 83 pole positions and 93 fastest laps. In the racing steps of Fangio, he became in 2014 the first Argentinian to win a motorsport World Championship since the legend driver in 1957. He is also the second argentine driver after Juan Manuel Fangio to join the TAG Heuer family.
